I made various gif animations using Adobe Animate. The first one was a pumpkin, jumping. At the time I was experimenting with rubber hose style animation and was attempting to loop the animation to have an undetectable beginning and end.
Pumpkin Animation
Storyboarding
During the sketching process, I wanted to map out my idea very clearly. I had clear motion in my sketches and a clear idea for the design/movement of the pumpkin. The only thing I changed from sketch to final animation was slight stylization.
Flower Animation
The next animation I did was with rubber hose style as well, I wanted to achieve a spinning motion as well as a color changing aspect in the animation. I also wanted the beginning to be seamless.
Storyboarding
I mapped out my ideas clearly here too. I made sure the color change was obvious and the rotation motion was clear as well. I wanted the flowers to be opposites and have a size difference, but be happy. I also wanted the animation to loop.
Sun Animation
My third animation focusing on rubber hose animation is my sun animation. I wanted to focus on a fun prompt, where the sun is sweating because it’s so hot. The style of it is my personal favorite out of them all.
Storyboarding
My storyboarding here is a bit more detailed. I really wanted the style and motion to be obvious. I wanted his loop to be a bit obvious with the puddle, but his movement to be smooth. I think it was executed well.
Retro Bite Animation
This project’s purpose was to animate a logo, and my way of doing that was to do a written logo, with a bite being taken out of the logo. The company was a 60’s themed diner, and that they have fun and bright branding.
Storyboarding
Rather than sketched storyboards, we moved onto digital. Here my storyboarding is very clear. I wanted the logo to swoop and my movement is detailed with arrows. I knew the style and the loop I wanted.
Storyboarding
My storyboarding process here was similar to the last. I knew my personal style a bit better, and love to see the progress through these animations. I wanted to make them come to life and interact.
Final Animation
My final animation was to create whatever we wanted. At this point I had experimented with my style a lot and knew I wanted to do something along those lines. I had sketched this girl and decided to animate her boombox. I used the same squiggly line animation effect that was used in the last one.
Storyboarding
I kept the storyboarding process simple but kept the movement obvious with arrows. I wanted the movement of the music notes to go upward and the facial expression to stay the same.
